Today is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Awareness Day, something that means a lot to me. In case you didn’t know already, I have CFS. I don’t keep it a secret. I feel it’s better to be open about my illness than to hide it. I know my limitations, but I also know what I’m capable of.
New Project: BestMomAward.com
Just in time for Mother’s Day, I’ve launched my new project: BestMomAward.com! It’s absolutely free to nominate someone for the award and to receive it! The idea started on Cutest Kid Ever, and I realized it had much greater potential.
Maybe you want to email the link to your mom or wife for Mother’s Day. Or maybe a mom you know is having a rough day with the kids and could use a pick-me-up. (That was how it all started – sending the award link to moms on Twitter, and having them thank me for brightening their day a little bit!) Or maybe you’ve had a bad day and think you deserve a little recognition for yourself. You can claim the award in your own name, too.
Blog Comment Spam – People Pay for This?
There is an update to this story posted on June 16, 2009.
I was scanning my referrer logs over the weekend for my mommy blog, Cutest Kid Ever. I came across an interesting URL “myseogal.com” in the report. So I clicked on it.
That was when I discovered that one of my blog posts was an example of someone’s “Blog Commenting Services.” Yep, I was comment spammed. The worst part? Because of the post it was on, I’d gone through and manually approved the offending comments from the Akismet spam queue because I thought they might be genuine. It was a post for the Ultimate Blog Party 2009, in which people just randomly drop by and comment on other people’s blogs in hopes of winning prizes. And maybe finding a new blog to subscribe to along the way.
Former Google Quality Rater Spills Google Secrets to Highest Bidder
I’ve been thinking. All this writing is very time consuming. I’m good at it – pretty awesome, actually – and it pays well, but I don’t have time for much of anything else. I tried to think about different ways to lessen my workload while still paying the bills, and it came to me that a lot of SEOs would pay big bucks to know exactly what I did as a quality rater for Google.
Personal Web Site vs Business Web Site
I took the plunge and filed my paperwork to form an LLC yesterday. It appears that my business name is available, but I’m waiting on the official word from the Secretary of State of New York.
The domain name has been purchased, but I’m not making an official announcement until all of the paperwork is finalized. That gives me time to ask a question.
Should I redirect this Web site (christinagleason.com) to the new business Web site or should I maintain separate Web sites? I’d be very grateful if you could leave me a comment explaining your vote.
