Comment Policy

To avoid the “to spam or not to spam” quandary when dealing with certain comments my blog posts receive, I’m laying out a  comment policy in plain English.

  1. Use your real name. (Don’t like your real name? Use your handle, like the one you use on Twitter.) Don’t use my comments section to get keyword-rich text linking back to your site. Take a mommy blogger tip, and put both your name AND your site name in the name field. i.e. Christina Gleason @ Phenomenal Content – I have no problem with that.
  2. Don’t leave a generic comment that doesn’t discuss the topic of the post you’re commenting on. Generic = spam, and I’m not stupid. Fool me once, shame on you… I’m not getting  fooled twice. Comment on what I’ve said in the post, or your comment will get spammed.
  3. While debate is good, flaming is not. If you try to incite a flame war on my blog, your comment will be summarily, and without ceremony, deleted. If you post something libelous or offensive, and I tend to get offended on the behalf of other people, your comment will be deleted. So please leave your bigotry and hateful comments at the door.
